It’s time for the weekly or monthly get-together. You need to choose a venue, something unique and exciting. Nothing too fancy, nor the typical, “let’s play pool and sing kereoke”. You want something a bit out of the ordinary. Look no further. A new venue has entered the Portland scene. DIY Bar, a do-it-yourself crafting place. Make a craft all while sipping local beer or wine, kombutcha also available.

Make your appointment then pick a craft from the project menu, ranging in difficulty from easy to medium or hard. Each project costs $39 and range from 1-3 hours each.

Choices include: Nail & String Art, Bottle Openers, Concrete Coasters, Cat Scratchers, Leather Projects such as Wallet, Passport Holder, Can & Bottle Koozies, Mason Jar Mug or clutch, 6 Pack Carrier, Beaded Bracelets and Dog Collar. All materials and instructions are provided and Craft-Tenders are available to help at every turn.

Join brothers Jason & Adam Gorske for a Sip & Craft Session. Serving Beer, Wine, Cider and Kombucha for the non-drinkers, for an additional cost. Food is not provided, but you are welcome to bring your own. Reservations are requested, although walk-in’s are welcome (if there is room).

I made the concrete coasters and I have to say, it was fun! Mixing concrete and painting, neither are my strong points. All the while listening to the sounds of hammers punching nails, saws and sandpaper and most of all laughter from the patrons. I think I want to do this again and this time take some friends along. Hey ya-ya’s, you up for a girls night out?
